The Art of Breaking Up

Break ups- no one will deny how awful they can be. However, you've already wasted enough of your time with the ex; Shouldn’t from this day forward be about you? Life should be danced holding a half full glass. So cheers to the idiots we have left behind. Burn the photos, delete his number and vent to your girlies if you have to... But now, it’s time to move on. Here a few amazing blessings to look forward to post break up.

Life Experience
Have you ever heard the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?” I remember way back when I was dealing with a very difficult break up and a friend lost for words threw that cliche phrase at me. Initially I wanted to slap her, but now that I see clearly, it is totally true. Ok, you are fresh out of a break up. Your eyes still puffy from crying, your mind playing a game of hopscotch between love and hate for your ex and you have vowed to yourself that you will never get close to a man again. All of us know that not only is this probably not your first break up, it won’t be your last. Every relationship either ends in a break up or a marriage (which still isn’t bullet proof.) What you have gained is one strong step in life development. One more life experience to reference, reflect and one day hopefully appreciate.

Dating Only Gets Easier From Here!
When young, a girl would pretty much date any charming, handsome fella singing her praises. Fortunately for our perceptive female race, practice makes perfect. The more men you date, the faster you can define what qualities you DON’T want in a man. Along with this comes BBD, Bad Boyfriend Detection. I now can spot a cheater, liar or selfish jerk from a mile away... The more shitty men a woman dates, the better she gets at spotting those far too familiar red flags. Now get out of your own way and use those womanly instincts we were blessed with! Next time your BBD smells a red flag, JUMP SHIPS!

An Amazing Collection of Souvenirs
Yes, you tossed every reminder of the ex. However, some souvenirs are neither material nor disposable. I have a collection of splendid girlfriends that I have collected from all the morons along the way. Good friends are hard to find so instead of crying about a man you can’t change, smile about the friends you would never want to change.

“A woman in love can't be reasonable--or she probably wouldn't be in love.” - Mae West
